Alexis de Tocqueville Society
History
Named for Alexis Charles-Henri de Tocqueville, a keen observer of American society who applauded the unique trait of Americans to help each other in times of need, the Alexis de Tocqueville Society is a driving force for positive social change.
United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley's Alexis de Tocqueville Society's mission is to deepen individual understanding of, commitment to and support of United Way's work, which is advancing the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all.

- Change lives through philanthropic leadership by ensuring that: children will enter school ready to learn; youth succeed in school; older adults will lead full and productive lives and age successfully; and our families and neighborhoods are strong and vital.
- Communicate the vital role of personal philanthropic action to address the underlying causes of societal problems and thus promote lasting change
- Foster philanthropic action and voluntary community service
