Current COMPASS Community Schools
Currently there are 7 Community School partnership sites (11 schools) in three Lehigh Valley school districts, including the Allentown School District (ASD) two elementary, one middle school), Bangor Area School District (beginning a district-level approach), and the Bethlehem Area School District (BASD) (three elementary schools). Each school is paired with a local Community Based Organization, who takes on a role called Lead Partner.
At present, there are five Community Based Organizations who have dedicated staff, resources, and time as Lead Partners in this unique collaborative (three partners act as Lead Partner for more than one school*). Current partnerships include:

How to Get Involved
Thanks to the vision and support of volunteers, Community School partnerships thrive. There are multiple opportunities for getting involved at all levels of the Community School movement, from being a member of the COMPASS Council, to offering a program or service to a Community School, to sharing your time as a volunteer with a child. Any of our staff members would be glad to talk with you about your interest in the movement.
Please contact Jane Hontz at janeh@unitedwayglv.org or 610-807-5731 to schedule an appointment.
